Alison works in stoneware clay, hand-building in coils and firing in an oxidised atmosphere to 1260°C. All pieces are frost-tolerant and will sit happily in a garden environment.
Preferring to work from the natural surroundings in Somerset, where she lives, Alison's inspiration is all around her, and she finds she is more interested in the aesthetic possibilities of organic forms rather than an emphasis on function. Alison has exhibited locally in Somerset, in Scotland, and in the annual exhibition of the South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts, where this year she won a prize for her sculpture 'conversation'.
